Full Title: The Wechsler Intelligence Scales for Children, 5th Edition (WISC-V): An Introduction to the New Measure

This workshop will provide attendees with an overview and introduction to the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition (WISC-V). The WISC-V is the most recent revision of this popular cognitive assessment measure for children and teens. In this presentation, the presenters will highlight the changes to this newest version as well as the trends and factors contributing to the updated design. New subtests will be demonstrated, possible clinical applications discussed, and new test administration options shown that are related to technological advances (e.g., tablets) for the WISC-V and other Pearson measures.

Learning Objectives: 

Following this workshop the attendees will be able to:

  1. describe the conceptual structure of the WISC-V
  2. identify and describe changes to the WISC-V
  3. understand the rationale for the development of the new factor structure, composites, and subtests
  4. describe administration options of the instruments
  5. interpret WISC-V data to understand a student’s strengths and needs
About the Presenter:

Dr. Maggie Kjer is currently employed as the Pearson Assessment Consultant for Georgia specializing in the Clinical Assessment Area. Maggie is also the Southeastern/Southwestern Regional Manager. She has been a consultant with Pearson Assessments/AGS for 14 years. Maggie earned her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Training and Performance Improvement from Capella University. Maggie’s teaching career spans over 25 years and she has taught in Europe and Asia, as well as in the United States. She is certified as a teacher of math, reading and special education as well as an Administer of Special Education.
