During this workshop, participants will be introduced to the concepts of a therapeutic process, HHII, which supports deep sustainable change. This method can be integrated into a therapy practice, providing another way to help clients.

The Heart grounds the change deeply in the subjective experience of the client, thereby honoring the diversity of experience. The Head is analytic, understanding in particular cultural assumptions that make change difficult. Intention is value-based and Implementation is practice, knowing that a life change, not perfection, is the goal.

CE Hours: 3

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the four steps to sustainable change using the HHII model
  2. Explain the critical nature of context
  3. Explain the importance of rendering visible unconscious societal beliefs
  4. Describe the critical role of values and judgment for change
About the Presenter:

Dr. Susan Barrett has spent 45 years as a professional fascinated with how people change and grow. As both a psychotherapist and an educator of adults, she has focused on the interplay of theory and practice and of therapy and education. Dr. Barrett is pragmatic, wanting ideas to be useful and uses images, stories and metaphors, in addition to words, to convey the process.
