This workshop explores the ethical and professional aspects of marketing. Whether you want to market the profession of psychology, the agency for which you work or your own expertise, the basic principles of marketing will be applicable. In this interactive workshop we will focus on crafting a meaningful message, making your message visible and gaining credibility. Marketing techniques such as media usage, networking and the importance of writing and speaking will be reviewed. We will take a quick review of ethical marketing. It is our ethical duty to market our profession so that the public knows where and how to access quality help in lieu of being drawn into ineffective programs. It is also our ethical duty in private practice to build a sustainable and successful business for the good of our clients and communities.

CE Hours: 3 (Ethics)

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will identify 3 activities that can be used to market their expertise.
  2. Participants will describe the difference between marketing, sales, advertising and branding.
  3. Participants will develop and write a marketing message.
  4. Participants will apply an ethical reasoning process to a proposed dilemma about a therapist’s marketing activity.
