Join GPA and Dr. Antonio Puente for an opportunity to network and earn CE on a Thursday evening. Begin the evening with a mixer and light refreshments. Then, earn 1.5 hours of CE in a 90-minute presentation on using the CPT System to determine upcoming changes.
This presentation will outline the major changes that are emerging in healthcare ranging from the effects of ACA/ACOs to ICD-10. The changes will be assessed using the patterns that have been emerging in the Current Procedural Terminology System as a predictor of the impending and long-term variables that will affect the professional practice of psychology.
- The learner will describe the basic history, purpose and components of the CPT system.
- The learner will describe the major changes occurring in healthcare as predicted by the last two decades of change in the CPT system.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Antonio Puente was born in Cuba and received degrees from the University of Florida (BA) and the University of Georgia (MS, PhD). He is am Past-President of the North Carolina Psychological Association, North Carolina Psychological Foundation, National Academy of Neuropsychology, Society for Clinical Neuropsychology (40) and Hispanic Neuropsychological Society. He also served two terms as a Council Representative (40). Other leadership positions held include chair of the Psychology Academy of the National Academies of Practice and several APA Boards and Committees ranging from the Board of Convention Affairs to the Committee for Psychological Tests and Assessments as well as served on 10 others, including the Policy and Planning Board.
Since 1982, he has maintained a private practice (clinical neuropsychology). Between 1993 and 2008, Puente was APA’s representative to the American Medical Association’s Current Procedural Terminology panel and was then elected to the Editorial Panel of the CPT (voting member). He also was on the Center for Medicare and Medicaid’s Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee.
