DBT is a multimodal treatment commonly facilitated in group settings. This workshop will demonstrate how DBT skills acquisition fits into the broader goals of individual therapy. The presenters will provide a comprehensive overview of each of the four skills modules: mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance. Experiential learning exercises will be used throughout the presentation to give participants concrete tools to use in their own individual therapy sessions with clients.
Participants will be able to:
- Explain the structure and purpose of DBT skills training groups.
- Describe each of the four DBT skills modules.
- Effectively apply specific skills for mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance in individual sessions with clients.
CE: 3 hours
