Charles (Chuck) Brodie, PhD, died on September 5, 2016 in Athens Georgia following a brief illness.
Dr. Chuck Brodie received his PhD in psychology from the University of Illinois in 1960. While a graduate student, he met the love of his life-Mary Lou Crumbaugh-who he later married. They moved to Oklahoma City where he worked as a clinical psychologist. In 1965, they moved again to Atlanta where he began a career in clinical practice, training of mental health professionals, and program leadership in Georgia's mental health service system. After retiring from the state, he continued to work in the field, teaching college and developing a specialty in practice focused on aging. He dedicated his remaining time to tennis, swimming, and imparting his enthusiasm for both to his grandchildren.
Since moving to Athens in 2010, he taught courses at Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) focused on planning for the "bonus years."
Dr. Brodie is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Susan (Robert Haire) and Silvia (Grant Dipman); four grandchildren, Alison Haire, Madison Dipman, Sara Haire, Mackenzie Dipman; and beloved dog, Tuli.
