Workshop Title: Adlerian Lifestyle Assessment –Data Collection through Analysis

Workshop Description:

Alfred Adler’s Lifestyle Assessment provides a structure for gathering data about the client’s family constellation, psychological birth-order, family relationships, early recollections, gender identity and more. This session will provide opportunities for participants to comprehensively identify not only the issue, but potential methods of resolution through the use of the Lifestyle Assessment. Basic convictions, interfering ideas, private logic and larger themes and patterns will be identified. Finally strengths will be drawn out of the assessment to instill hope and encourage the resolution of the presenting issue(s).

Learning Objectives:

1) Participants will be able to summarize basic Adlerian concepts which are included in the Life-Style Assessment (such as private logic, life tasks, family atmosphere, birth order, memories and dreams)
2) Participants will observe demonstrations of Life-Style Assessment
3) Participants will be able to explain how Life Style Assessment addresses issues of diversity
4) Participants will be able to explain various methods of identifying themes/patterns
5) Participants will discuss typologies in Adlerian theory employed by the Life-Style Assessment
6) Participants will analyze the meaning of patterns from an Adlerian strengths perspective
7) Participants will discuss individualizing the Life-Style Assessment to address issues of diversity
