Workshop Title: Getting Your Clients Through Divorce: Understanding The Process, Reducing Conflict Through Mediation, and the Development of Psychologically Informed Parenting Plans 


Workshop Description:

This workshop is for any psychologist with clients going through divorce who are stressed, confused, and misinformed. During this workshop, the process of divorce will be discussed, including the development of parenting plans, and the option of divorce mediation will be highlighted. Audience members will leave the workshop with a better understanding of how they can help their clients who are going through divorce. Additionally, they will be provided with information of how to help their lower socioeconomic status clients obtain assistance during the divorce process.


Learning Objectives

1.      Summarize the process of divorce and define the differences between collaborative divorce, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

2.      Describe three necessary components of a parenting plan.

3.      Explain two ways that you as a psychologist would be able to assist your clients who are going through a divorce.

      About the Presenter:


      Dr. Ginny Kington has been a psychologist in private practice for the past eight years where she provides individual and couples therapy, assessment services, and supervision of trainees. After working with individuals and couples for the last eight years who have been at varying stages in the divorce process, she became interested in expanding her practice to include divorce mediation. She has been trained as both a civil and domestic mediator, and formed Gwinnett Mediation as an adjunct to her private practice in psychology where she focuses on performing divorce mediations, particularly of couples with minor children.

      Cancellation Policy:
      All cancellations must be submitted in writing to Hannah Steinberg via email ( A $35 cancellation fee will be charged for any cancellations prior to January 24, 2020. No refunds will be given after January 24, 2020.
