Center for Discovery and GPA Presents:

Dismantling Size Oppression: Eating Disorder Treatment & Beyond

Zoom Webinar

CE: 3 Hours

Workshop Description:

As a society, we are more aware than ever that systemic oppression is trauma. Using an intersectional lens, this presentation will take a deep dive into size oppression--its often covert and sometimes well-intentioned nature, its harmful consequences on the individual- and societal-level, and ways to begin to combat it in our therapy offices and beyond. While this interactive presentation will use the framing of eating disorder treatment, the paradigm and inventions shared will be universal to healing the relationship with our bodies. (Intermediate)

Learning Objectives:

1. Recognize subtle yet harmful forms of weight stigma

2. Describe alternatives to weight-centric paradigms of treatment

3. Use concrete techniques to address and reduce weight stigma within their practice
