ECP Michelle Casimir, PsyD Awarded Trip to APA PLC in Washington DC

GPA member Michelle Casimir, PsyD, has been awarded one of ten trips to the Practice Leadership Conference given to Early Career Psychologists by the APA.
Dr. Casimir is a licensed psychologist with the Atlanta VA. She also has a joint faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Casimir focuses on delivering a wide range of psychological services to Veterans. She specifically focuses on providing evidenced based treatments to patients who present with severe mental illness, trauma and personality disorders. Additionally, Dr. Casimir offers psychological testing within her clinic to assist both providers and patients with understanding complex diagnostic presentations and offering recommendations for treatment. Dr. Casimir serves on several committees at the VA. She is a member of the Extended Psychology Training Committee and assists with supervising practicum students as well as psychiatry residents at her clinic. Dr. Casimir is also a member of the Family Intervention Team at the VA and works to provide specific family services to Veterans and their families with severe mental illness. Furthermore, she participates in a workgroup with other various disciplines that is dedicated to improving access to psychosocial treatments for severe mental illness.
In her “spare” time, Dr. Casimir is the Chair for GPA's Committee for Early Career Psychologists where she advocates for ECPs and trainees and recently formed the Georgia Psychological Association for Graduate Students (GPAGS) devoted to development of future leaders in the profession of psychology.
