Diversity Directorate's Potluck Brunch

Monday, June 3, 2019   (0 Comments)
On Sunday, May 19, the Diversity Directorate’s Ethnic Minority Affairs (EMA) Committee hosted over 40 attendees at the Annual GPA Diversity Potluck Brunch at Dr. Jennifer Kelly’s home. For over 20 years this brunch has been a time for a diverse group of psychologists, students, and trainees to gather, network, and enjoy a delicious spread featuring Dr. Kelly’s famous gumbo.

The event opened with a welcome from EMA chair, Dr. Speshal Walker. This year GPA was honored to have the President of APA, Dr. Rosie Phillips Davis, as a guest speaker. Dr. Davis gave an inspirational talk on “Bringing Psychological Science to the fight against deep poverty.”
The brunch concluded with a discussion of challenges and pathways forward in this area of work.

The event was warm and memorable, and the Diversity Directorate is appreciative of all those who attended and especially those who assisted with making it a success!
