On Oct. 9th,  the Georgia Psychological Association provided training for 45 doctoral interns at the Professional Development Conference for Georgia Psychology Interns. Doctoral interns represented the Atlanta VA, Charlie Norwood VA, Emory University, Georgia Regional Hospital, Georgia Southern University, Georgia State University, Georgia Tech University, Marcus Autism Center, and Medical College of Georgia.

Early Career Psychologists, Drs. Neha Khorana, Ginny Chan, Anthony Hansen, and Sean Hirt, provided information related to finding a postdoctoral fellowship. Shalini Sivathasan, MS, commented, "It was extremely helpful to hear from early career psychologists on their journey to postdoc and getting their first jobs. Thanks to GPA for supporting this opportunity!"  Kirsten Railey, MA, noted, "It was incredibly helpful to hear from early career psychologists who were recently in our shoes as we navigate decisions about post-doc opportunities, applying for jobs, and joining professional organizations! Their insight and knowledge helped me feel more prepared as I apply for post-doc and think about my long-term goals as a future psychologist."

Later, Senior Psychologists, Drs. Anita Brown, James DeGroot, Alonso Romero, and Peter Thomas,

participated in a panel on Career Trajectories. They provided rich descriptions of the changes in direction that have occurred during their careers, emphasizing the importance of professional associations in opening up new opportunities. Further, they shared their wisdom on balancing personal and professional life.

Dr. Laura Dilly, GPA President, also shared information about the importance joining local professional organizations and the importance of advocacy. In addition, she provided an update to Training Directors regarding information from Dr. Mike Rose, Board of Examiner's Liaison, the Insurance and Managed Care team, and the Legal and Legislative Committee.
