Georgia Board of Examiners Meeting

The Board of Examiners met on FR, August 28.  Michael Rose, the GPA liaison to the BOE; and Rachel Kieran, president of GPA; and I represented GPA at the virtual meeting.   It was a vigorous meeting that focused on two issues of significance to GPA members – and all Georgia psychologists.

First, GPA sent a formal letter in advance of the meeting asking the BOE to consider extending the current board rule regarding CE through June 30, 2021. That letter was developed based on input from members; who expressed, by a significant majority, a preference for a virtual  annual meeting – and further expressed that they would be unlikely to attend an in-person meeting.  After active discussion among the members of the BOE, they  chose not to take the vote and to defer the decision .  The BOE certainly understood the issues and concerns GPA representatives expressed.

Second, the BOE discussed the  time line regarding the requirement for trainees to take the EPPP-2 as a part of the licensure process.   TRAINEES MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE ENTIRE APPLICATION PROCESS AND HAVE THEIR APPLICATION APPROVED BY THE BOE  NO LATER THAN THE  OCTOBER 30, 2020 MEETING.   For elaboration, all applicants must submit the Initiation Form to the BOE for review before the form is sent to ASPPB .  ASPPB then proceeds  to insure  that all parts of the application are completed before the completed application can go back to BOE for its approval.   Only for applications that have successfully completed this process by the BOE meeting on October 30, 2020 will the applicant be allowed to continue through the licensure process without taking the eppp-2. Any applications which are received by the BOE after that date will require EPPP-2 before the license is granted.    The BOE website will be updated to reflect this very soon.  GPA will not field questions regarding this matter – this is the exclusive purview of the  BOE and all questions will must  to be directed to that office.
