2025 Award Nominations Open!

What are the GPF Berman-Gard Awards?

Excellence in Service Award
GPF engages in efforts to support free and reduced fee mental health and psychological services to the public through recognition, awards, and training.

The Berman-Gard award has been established by Dr. Betsy Gard in honor of her late husband, Dr. Barry Berman. The award is given to a Georgia psychologist who has distinguished themselves by lending their expertise to a non-profit organization – either directly (ex., psychotherapy) or indirectly (ex., consultation or leadership). The services must be provided without compensation. Self-nominations are welcome.

Student Research Award

The annual Berman-Gard Graduate Student Research Award will be presented at GPA’s Annual Meeting to recognize excellence in research focusing on disadvantaged, underserved, or disenfranchised populations. The award includes a cash prize and a plaque. The recipient of this award demonstrates research that leverages psychological science to address events, circumstances or interventions that further the wellbeing of those at risk in the community. Self-nominations are welcome.
