Sports and Performance Psychology Techniques Applied to Psychotherapy with Non-Athletes

Zoom Webinar, CE: 3 Hours

Workshop Description:

Recent events in the area of sports and athletics have highlighted an increased awareness of the importance of mental health.  Many professional athletes have acknowledged their individual struggles, thereby removing the stigma of seeking assistance.  Concurrently, there has been a dramatic increase in the use of cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness, neuroscience, technology and other performance-oriented psychotherapeutic techniques by sports and performance psychologists as well as other mental conditioning coaches to enhance performance.  The concept of a mental core is useful in the understanding and use of these techniques.

The mental core consists of one’s overall Internal Dialogue/Self-Talk, Preparation Skills, Recovery Skills, Emotional Intelligence (EI), Systems Thinking, and Mindfulness Skills.  The concept of the mental core creates a solid, fundamental, and broad base for your overall mental fitness.
This workshop provides a unique view of the future of psychotherapeutic interventions through the investigation of an integrated approach to mental fitness.  The concept of the mental core will be introduced, and the participants will be exposed to the various tools, techniques and skills associated with the concept.
