Tinnitus and Technology: Mental Health, Quality of Life, and Treatment at the Crossroads. What Is the Role of Psychologists?Required for CE: Evaluation and Post Test
Prerecorded Webinar
CE: 3 Hours
Workshop Description:
Tinnitus and related audiological disorders have no cure, impact millions worldwide, and are among the leading causes of disability for veterans of recent foreign wars. While various treatment options exist, care for common comorbid mental health concerns are frequently delivered by audiologists or through technology. Research has suggested that interdisciplinary care is most effective, and has highlighted the lack of available support for communities of color, and those of low socioeconomic status. This workshop will provide an overview of the psychosocial impact of tinnitus and related conditions, and highlight areas relevant to assessment and treatment in psychological practice. (Introductory)
Learning Objectives:
- Learners will be able to explain and summarize the conditions of tinnitus and related audiological disorders along with their various comorbid mental health challenges.
- Learners will be able to assess and critique current treatment models and apply a psychological perspective to interdisciplinary care, and identify underserved populations.
- Learners will be able to apply recently developed questionnaires in the assessment of the psychosocial impact of individuals with tinnitus and related audiological concerns in measuring treatment outcomes and consultation as part of interdisciplinary practice.
