Workshop Description: This presentation will describe Emory University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences’ Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee (DISC). Presenters will share the history and evolution of DISC. They will discuss challenges and dynamic initiatives that serve to promote a fair and respectful environment, and champion social justice including "Diversity Moments," "Hate Crime Statements," "Diversity Podcast Series," and "Cultural Case Conferences." Lastly, the presentation will provide recommendations for establishing a successful and sustainable DISC committees. (Introductory) Learning Objectives: - **Understand the Role of a Diversity and Inclusion Social Justice Committee**: Participants will learn the key responsibilities and functions of a modern diversity, inclusion, and social justice committee, including promoting equity, fostering a culture of belonging, and addressing systemic inequities within an organization or community.
- **Develop Strategies for Effective Committee Implementation**: Attendees will explore actionable steps for forming and sustaining a successful 21st-century diversity and inclusion committee, including recruiting diverse members, establishing goals, and creating measurable outcomes.
- **Promote Inclusive Practices and Social Justice Initiatives**: Learners will gain insights into designing and implementing inclusive policies, programs, and events that reflect intersectional approaches to diversity, equity, and social justice in modern institutions.

 | Erica Marshall - Lee, PhD, ABPP, ABSMIP is a double board certified licensed Clinical Psychologist, Associate Professor, and Eminent Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Emory University School of Medicine. She is the Assistant Vice Chair, Faculty Development, Diversity and Inclusion, and Associate Director, Advocacy and Diversity of Postdoctoral Residency in Health Service Psychology. Dr. Marshall - Lee is also the past President of the Georgia Psychological Association as well as Chair of the American Psychological Association, Division 18- Psychologists in Public Service, Serious Mental Illness and Serious Emotional Disorders Section and Co Chair of the division's Policy and Advocacy committee. She is a member of the Task Force on Serious Mental Illness/Severe Emotional Disturbance and serves on the APA Editorial Board for Psychological Services Journal. She is the Clinical Director, Psychosocial Rehabilitation/Peer services and Director of Psychological Services, Youth and Family Tree at Grady Behavioral Health Services Adult Outpatient Clinic. Her work is centered on serving adults with serious persistent mental health concerns, social justice advocacy and equity, diversity, and inclusion with minoritized communities, in addition to social justice, multiculturally informed behavioral healthcare learning. She enjoys promoting mental health and well being, social justice, and advocacy through work with her professional affiliations at national, state, and institutional levels. |  | Nadine J. Kaslow, PhD, ABPP, Professor Eminent Psychologist, Vice Chair for Faculty Development and DEI, Chief Psychologist, and Director of Postdoctoral Residency Training at Emory Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, is the newly appointed Director of Wellbeing, Resilience, and Flourishing in the Emory at Grady Dean’s Office. Past-President of the American Psychological Association (APA), she is board certified in four specialties through the American Board of Professional Psychology. She has received numerous awards for her contributions to education and training as well as service and leadership. The recipient of multiple federally funded grants, she has over 380 publications and has coedited seven books related to psychology education and training, culturally responsive interventions for family violence and suicide, trauma-informed and patient- and family- centered care, serious mental illness, and healthcare worker well-being. |  | Tomina J. Schwenke, PhD, ABPP, is a licensed and board-certified psychologist and nationally certified sign language interpreter (CI/CT) with a specialized mental health interpreting (QMHI) certificate. She earned a post-doctoral juris master’s degree from the Emory School of Law and is an Assistant Professor at the Emory School of Medicine's Psychiatry and Law Service (PLS). She was the prior director of Emory’s jail-based Competency Restoration program and is currently the director of the PLS forensic psychology postdoctoral training program. She is a Senior Psychologist within the Emory Brain Health Clinic and consults on cases involving D/deaf and hard-of-hearing patients. She enjoys spending time with her family and running marathons. |  | Neha Khorana, PhD, ABPP is a licensed and board-certified psychologist who is in private practice and specializes in conducting comprehensive and brief psychological assessments for a variety of presenting concerns including ADHD, personality, and television casting. As a South Asian woman, Dr. Khorana has a deep understanding of and interest in providing services to the South Asian community through psychotherapy, assessment and advocacy. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Khorana serves as Adjunct Faculty for the Emory University School of Medicine and as Clinical Faculty for the Psychiatry residency program with Piedmont Healthcare in Macon, GA. In her free time, Dr. Khorana enjoys spending time with her family trying new restaurants around Atlanta and exploring different playgrounds with her two toddlers. |  | Johannil Napoleón, PsyD, LPC, is a bilingual (Spanish and English) pediatric psychologist who recently completed her postdoctoral residency at the Aflac Blood and Cancer Disorders Center via Emory University School of Medicine/Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Dr. Napoleón is excited to continue supporting children with medical conditions and their families at Wellstar Health System. Dr. Napoleón obtained her Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from Adler University with an emphasis in traumatic stress psychology. Dr. Napoleón looks forward to serving the pediatric population while continuing to publish scholarly work that address mental health related concerns in Black and Latin American communities. |
