Join the Georgia Psychological Association & the Marcus Autism Center on Friday, November 7, 2025 for an informative event geared towards practicing psychologists and those who are interested in learning more about the topic of Anxiety, Depression, & Suicidality Among Autistic Youth. The planned agenda is as follows: 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Networking & Light Breakfast 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM: Presentation Followed by Case Discussions / Q&A Session 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Optional Tours of Marcus Autism Center Our speakers, Morganne Reid, PhD and Jonathan Ferguson, PhD, are both licensed psychologists and Assistant Professors in the Department of Pediatrics at the Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Reid will cover the following: Discuss prevalence of depression and suicidality among autistic youth and adults Review current progress on developing suicide screener tools among autistic population Identify ways to respond when autistic client shares suicidal thoughts or behaviors in a clinical setting Describe evidence-based therapy interventions to address suicidal thoughts and behaviors among autistic youth
Dr. Ferguson will lead the anxiety portion of the discussion and will focus on: Comorbidity of anxiety and autism Exposure therapy and the importance of parent coaching Adaptations of CBT for individuals with autism Differences of group and individual therapy when working with autistic youth
