Artificial Intelligence in Forensic Psychology: Ethical
Integration, Legal Defensibility, and Clinical Accountability

Virtual Workshop | CE: 2 Hours

Presenter: Aubree Harrington, PsyD

Workshop Description:

Artificial intelligence is rapidly entering mental health practice, yet forensic psychology presents unique ethical, legal, and clinical considerations. This workshop examines AI through real-world forensic workflow, emphasizing documentation standards, legal defensibility, professional accountability, and ethical risk management. Drawing on correctional, hospital, and private forensic practice, participants will explore how emerging technologies intersect with expert testimony, jurisdictional statutes, and clinical judgment. The session highlights both potential benefits and significant risks, emphasizing that AI must never replace professional expertise. Designed for forensic clinicians and trainees, this workshop provides a grounded framework for evaluating technology responsibly within court-involved practice.

Level: Introductory

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe ethical and legal considerations related to AI use in forensic psychology.
  2. Identify distinctions between clinical and forensic applications of emerging technologies.
  3. Assess potential risks of AI-assisted tools for documentation, expert opinion formation, and legal defensibility.
  4. Discuss strategies for maintaining clinical judgment and professional accountability in technology-informed forensic practice.
